Has anyone ever seen the commercial for Exerdrine Migraine? If it works for your migraines, a) congratulations I’m happy for you b) EVERY time I see it i want to reach through the TV screen and shake her… when she says, “if you have migraines.. you know pain, well Exedrin Migraine starts working in half an hour. Maybe it’s just because it doesn’t even touch mine! Anyone else feel that way? Or does it help anyone?

oh my gosh, every time i see that commercial i want to scream. i just saw it a minute ago while I was on this site and had to write.

Ya, I would like to know who it works for. Do you think it works for people who just have headaches-not migraines- every once and a while? I find it hard to believe it relieves a true migraine in a half and hour and gets rid of light sensitivity, because even my most powerful abortives don’t work that fast.

melissadwyer13 said 11 months, 3 weeks ago ago:

exactly! It just frustrates me because I think that’s part of the reason most people don’t believe the TRUE pain behind a migraine. I’ve had doctors tell me I just have a “headache” when I go to the ER. I think that commercial does NOTHING to help migraine awareness… it downsizes how debilitating they truly are! I’m glad I’m not alone in HATING that commercial!

I don’t think I’ve met a Migraineur yet who doesn’t dislike that commercial – doctors too! Migraine needs to be seen as the systemic disease that it is. It is so much more than just a headache…

Johnny said 11 months ago ago:

For me it works–but only for an hour or 2 then the pain comes back. From time to time it may knock out a mild migraine. Just one more tool in the shed.

It works for me if I eat a whole bottle of 150 tabs which causes my stomach to hurt so bad that I forget about my migraine… oh wait, no my head still hurts worse.

I have found that there are no over the counter meds that work for my migraines. They dont even dull the pain and only cause rebound headaches. My conclusion is that they do more harm than good.

Jason,

None of the OTC’s work for me either. I’d might as well eat Tic Tacs.

I agree completely Jason and Teri!

Excedrine Migraine? What a huge crock.

Extra-Strength Excedrin:
- Acetaminophen 250mg
- Asprin 250mg
- Caffeine 65mg

Excedrine Migraine:
- Acetaminophen 250mg
- Asprin 250mg
- Caffeine 65mg

The difference is (thankfully JUST) in the packaging. It’s the same stuff in a different box. The asprin content makes it unusable for me – works 50% of the time, fails 50% of the time, upsets my stomach 50% of the time, so I have about a 1 in 4 chance that it will work and *won’t* upset my stomach… not worth it to me.

But it’s the same thing as Extra-Strength Excedrine (unless there’s a difference in inactive ingredients, and I tend to think they’d charge more if there were, but the price is identical too.)

Ravensun said 10 months, 1 week ago ago:

Teri, you’re just about right: Tic-Tacs might be more effective for me than this junk. Excedrine Migraine – HAH! I love how people actually believe it will work when they don’t read the packaging. I’ll bet you 50% of its effectiveness comes from psychosomatic causes.

It have worked for me only when I have the aura before the pain hits actually keeps me from having migraine pain but I still feel groggy.
